Solid Ground

from Firesword 2 by These Stains Are Who I Am

lyrics

Wasn't I just in outer space?
Perpetual motion, now sitting in place
Within me something has changed
A meaning... a feeling... a sword made of flame!

I sniff the flowers, feel the grass between my toes
Overcome with emotion, so good to be back home
Was it all some kind of dream?
Try to forget it and enjoy a peaceful scene

I check my arms, see the scars have stuck around
Still I’m glad to be back on solid ground

I’m fast asleep when the earth begins to quake
Try to deny it, but now I’m wide awake
With a violent roar, the tranquil dirt splits wide
And a vile whisper in my head is luring me inside

I plug my ears but I still can hear the sound
I want to stay back on solid ground

My legs betray me, my eyes can’t unsee
I give in to the pull of some twisted gravity
My fragile psyche will be dealt the final blow
As I go down below…
